Stop waiting for Fridays,
For that promotion,
For your birthday,
For a compliment,
For reassurance,
For the day to end,
For ‘it’ to pass.
Just stop waiting for happiness!
We keep waiting for good things to happen, for happiness to come to us. We need to stop. Happiness is not a situation; it’s a feeling, a state of mind— and you have the choice to feel something and dictate the state of your mind.
You need to start seeing happiness. You need to start glamourising and glorifying every moment of your life. You need to start believing that the cup of tea you’re having is the best you’ve ever had— I’m not asking you to pretend or fake it— you only need to see it. Be thankful for every breath you take in. Go for a walk and look around yourself; look at how beautiful the world is. The flowers were blooming while you were worrying, what a misery you never looked around.
We’re living in such a complex world with ‘far more important things’ that small moments of happiness and gratitude hardly catch our attention. We try to look for big things to give us happiness but never see the small good things right under our noses.
The ironic part is when we seek our happiness from others. We want to be reassured, be complimented, be in the right and we seek this from others so that we can feel happy. We need to be aware that nobody is responsible for our own happiness. It’s wholly and solely us— because it’s our happiness!
So, I urge you dear reader, to start finding your own happiness and stop waiting for it to come to you. I hope I was able to express myself through this post. 😊
