2020 has been quite a… unique year— for everyone. It was a year of uncertainty, cancelled plans, and sanitisers & masks (the tangible ones, of course). Although we were (and still are) all in a pandemic, I’m sure everybody has different stories to tell. Here’s mine:
Overview
For me, 2020 has been a year of growth, recovery and family bonding. I feel like I grew out of my comfort zone and my old beliefs. I also gained perspective on a lot of things this year. Giving myself time was also one of the greatest things that happened to me this year— I think I know myself better now. And of course, a big thanks to COVID here that I was able to spend so much time with my family, especially with my parents. I will always keep holding onto those ‘lockdown memories’ and replaying them in my head.
Oh and new experiences too! I had a lot of new experiences this year while travelling to Dubai and Mauritius— thankfully COVID was not at its peak at that time (0 cases in Mauritius!) and all of us returned safe and sound. Anyway, these new experiences included meeting and a lot of new people, exploring two countries with contrasting lifestyles— a taste of rich architecture and fancy lifestyle on one hand and calm, serene beaches on the other.
Favourites
For some reason I am so fond of this crimson flask that I found lying in the kitchen cupboards, unused. So I started using it, and having it by my side has largely improved my water intake. Also, I don’t think I can live without it.
Gratitude
This year, I am grateful for opportunities; opportunities to learn, explore and choose. I am also grateful for the not-so-good experiences because they taught me a lot— I learnt the power and importance of zero tolerance to things you tolerate.
Final Thoughts
Although this year was a bit rough and boring at some point, I don’t wish that I’d never seen it. 2020 had its own ways of making us realise the little things we took for granted and getting families together.
Share your reflections too! I’m eager to hear your thoughts about 2020!

It’s been a mixed year for me too. I feel strange at adapting so much to technology and not having enough time to see the world. But all said and done, every year is a learning.

Yes, this year technology suddenly took over. Adapting to these unanticipated changes has been strange and somewhat difficult but on the brighter side we got to learn something new! I’m glad all of us found ways to grow even in a situation like this 😊.
